Former President Donald Trump has intensified his comments on Iran, posting a message on social media directed at Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In his statement, Trump claimed the U.S. has “complete and total control of the skies over Iran” and indicated knowledge of the leader’s location, although he stated no immediate action would be taken.
These remarks came ahead of a meeting with his national security team in the White House Situation Room, where the ongoing conflict in the Middle East was a primary topic. Trump warned that any attacks on U.S. personnel or civilians would be considered a red line, stating, “Our patience is wearing thin,” and promising a forceful response if provoked.
He also referenced Israel’s recent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, implying U.S. involvement through air dominance and equipment use, despite earlier assertions that Israel had acted independently.
In Congress, bipartisan efforts are underway to prevent unauthorized military engagement. A resolution introduced in the House aims to restrict any action without explicit congressional approval, with a similar proposal being considered in the Senate. Supporters of the measure argue that military decisions must follow constitutional processes.
At the same time, Trump called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and made no mention of diplomatic talks, marking a shift from previous openness to negotiations. When asked whether Vice President Vance or special envoy Steve Witkoff would engage with Iranian officials, Trump indicated that any decision would depend on future developments.
The evolving situation has also caused division among Trump’s supporters. Some advocate for non-intervention, aligning with his long-standing “America First” stance. Nevertheless, his team has emphasized the president’s authority to act if he determines that further steps are needed to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
