Trump and Putin Discuss Conflict Developments and Nuclear Talks

Former President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he had a 75-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The discussion covered recent drone attacks attributed to Ukraine on Russian air bases, as well as ongoing efforts related to nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Trump described the call as “a good conversation,” while noting that it is unlikely to produce an immediate resolution. According to his remarks, Putin emphasized that he would respond to the recent strikes on Russian airfields.

Although Trump has previously criticized Russia’s actions in Ukraine, he did not repeat those criticisms in his summary of the call. The conversation followed a new round of talks in Istanbul, which ended without significant progress toward resolving the war that has lasted three years.

Regarding Iran, Trump said he updated Putin on the current efforts to reach a nuclear agreement. He stated that he stressed the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and that Putin appeared open to participating in the discussions to help advance them.
