Incident during first week of classes
A shooting on Wednesday morning at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to 17 people, including 14 minors. The attack occurred around 8:30 a.m. during a Mass held inside the church.
Authorities reported that the gunman fired from outside the building through the church windows, striking students, families, and attendees. The two children who lost their lives, aged 8 and 10, were seated in the pews at the time. Several victims remain in critical condition.
Suspect identified and security measures
Preliminary reports indicate that the attacker, a man in his early 20s, was carrying a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol, all of which were fired during the assault. The suspect was later found dead with what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the situation was quickly contained and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Medical response and official statements
