Epstein Attorney Denies Knowledge of Crimes

A former attorney for Jeffrey Epstein has told lawmakers he had no knowledge of the financier’s criminal activities, as congressional investigators continue to examine the network surrounding one of the most controversial legal cases in recent history.

Testifying before the House Oversight Committee, attorney Richard Kahn stated that he was unaware of any abuse or trafficking involving women and girls. His remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of individuals who worked closely with Epstein prior to his death in 2019.

Testimony and Denials from Epstein Associates

Kahn’s testimony follows statements from other longtime associates, including Darren Indyke, who also denied knowledge of Epstein’s misconduct. Indyke, who worked with Epstein for more than two decades, told lawmakers that no allegations of abuse were ever brought to his attention.

According to prepared statements, Indyke emphasized that he was never accused of wrongdoing and would have severed ties had he known about any illegal activity. Both men have been central figures in the management of Epstein’s legal and financial affairs, including serving as executors of his estate.

Their testimony is part of an ongoing congressional inquiry examining the extent to which individuals within Epstein’s inner circle may have been aware of or involved in his activities.

Lawmakers Raise Questions Over Credibility

Despite the denials, several members of Congress have expressed skepticism. Critics argue that individuals who maintained long-term professional relationships with Epstein may have had greater visibility into his operations than they acknowledge.

Lawmakers have pointed to past legal actions, including a lawsuit filed by authorities in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which alleged that key associates played roles in facilitating a broader criminal enterprise. That case was later settled for more than $105 million, adding further complexity to the legal landscape surrounding Epstein’s estate.

Additional concerns have been raised about financial transactions and internal communications, including references to data storage devices and interactions with law enforcement. These elements have fueled ongoing debate about the level of accountability among those who worked closely with Epstein.

The role of Ghislaine Maxwell, who has been convicted in connection with the trafficking network, also remains central to the broader investigation.

The congressional inquiry reflects a continued effort to understand how Epstein was able to operate for years without broader exposure. Institutions such as the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have previously conducted extensive investigations into the case, uncovering evidence related to trafficking and financial activities.

At the same time, compensation efforts for victims have moved forward. The Epstein Victims’ Compensation Program has distributed more than $121 million to over 100 survivors, marking a significant, though partial, step toward accountability.

Legal experts note that testimony like Kahn’s and Indyke’s may shape future proceedings, particularly if additional evidence emerges. Congressional oversight efforts, tracked through resources such as House Oversight Committee and public legal databases like PACER, continue to examine both individual responsibility and systemic failures.

As the investigation unfolds, the central question remains whether those within Epstein’s professional network were unaware of his crimes or failed to act despite warning signs—an issue that continues to draw public and political attention.
